The Continuing Search for delta Scuti Components in Eclipsing Binary Star Systems

Measurements of the change in brightness of eclipsing binary star systems allow us to determine fundamental physical properties of the component stars that are necessary for modeling stellar evolution. Eclipsing binary systems that contain a delta Scuti component are especially interesting because they provide critical information about these pulsating stars. Photometric observations of several Algol-type eclipsing binary systems were performed during the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009. Multiple candidate systems have been positively identified as containing a delta Scuti component. Observations were taken at the Truman Observatory using an 8-inch telescope and the SBIG ST-9 and ST-402 CCD cameras. Results of the ongoing research will be presented.
