Dr. Jerry Mayhew, Faculty Mentor
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exercise on self-perception in college men and women. A convenience sample of men (n = 27) and women (n = 56) completed the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS) and an exercise frequency and type survey. A gender x frequency x exercise type (2 x 3 x ?) ANOVA produced a significant difference only between genders (p<0.01). Men had significantly higher SPAS scores than women.
