Tia R. Keatting*, Kayla L. Buchheit, and Bailey A. Hughes
Dr. Ilene Elmlinger, Faculty Mentor

Utilizing earphones at a high loudness level can cause long-term hearing damage. In this study, we examined college students' perception of earphone use compared to their actual practices. A survey was conducted to gain an understanding of how students perceive their earphone use regarding loudness and their knowledge of the impact of earphone usage at loud levels. Data on actual practices were collected from the Health App on participants' personal phones. A post-data collection discussion was completed with participants to discuss each individual’s data and recommendations for healthy earphone listening habits.
