Dr. Amber Johnson and Dr. Elaine McDuff, Faculty Mentors
In the study of romantic relationships, this research is aimed at finding the comparison between what people say they are looking for in a potential mate and how other factors contribute to their decisions. Surveys were used to collect information to compare what people see as their ideal and what characteristics actually exist(ed) in their most and least successful relationship/dating experience. Ideals in media often influence what one perceives should be desired. Romantic relationships in modern films were analyzed to evaluate what characteristics of attraction are portrayed to modern society. The presentation will display the findings from analysis of the surveys and film as to what characteristics are sought in romantic relationships.
