Parent and Provider Perceptions of State Proposals for Increases in Child Care Accessibility

Inaccessibility to childcare providers has impacted both students and parents alike. This research focuses on parent perceptions of current legislative measures being taken to reduce this inaccessibility, specifically with government tax incentives being used to better childcare facilities. Rural areas greatly face child care inaccessibility, even more-so than suburban and city areas in Missouri that are also facing a lack of child care. Using a survey of Kirksville child care teachers and parents, this research aims to better understand the perspective of the intended beneficiaries of a proposed government tax incentive program for an increase in child care providers.
