Tressa Burr♦
Dr. Christopher Maglio, Faculty Mentor

Flexible seating is a new form of classroom management. This method of classroom management is utilized to provide students the option of what type of seat they would like to use during instruction. This type of seating can also be utilized in small groups, individual practice, or partner pair ups. Students are being provided with choice, physical activity, comfort, commitment to learning, sensory input, and fun in the classroom. This research paper investigates the effects of flexible seating arrangements on academic performance of students in a classroom setting. Flexible seating, an innovative approach to classroom design, offers students a variety of seating options to choose from. These options can possibly include standing at desks, bean bags, or floor cushions. This study examines how flexible seating influences student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement, all enclosed by their academic performance.
