Shelby T. Feltrop♦
Dr. Brandy Schneider and Dr. Greg Williams (University of Central Missouri), Faculty Mentors

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to determine if certified athletic trainers feel bullying is present in the workplace and to examine factors that influence the occurrence. Significance: To determine the bullying behaviors faced by certified athletic trainers and understand what influences underreporting. Methods: Respondents completed an anonymous online survey where they detailed if they had ever been bullied, if they had seen bullying happen or if they bullied another person in the workplace. Results: Seventy percent of certified athletic trainers said they were bullied in their workplace. Fifty-nine percent reported bullying the workplace would lead them to leave the athletic training profession. Conclusion: Bullying is a prevalent issue in the athletic training workplace and negatively impacts the mental health of certified athletic trainers, as well as making it more difficult for them to do their job.
