Interprofessional Simulations

In the fall of 2015, Truman nursing students and KCOM medical students participated in interprofessional collaborative simulations at A.T. Still University's Human Patient Simulation Lab. Interprofessional collaboration in healthcare is the coming together of two or more healthcare professions to share ideas and make decisions together and is an essential component of providing high-quality, patient-centered care (King, Conrad, & Ahmed, 2013). The interprofessional simulations presented nursing and medical students with the opportunity to learn how to collaborate and communicate with one another to provide care to a patient as a team in an acute situation. This presentation will reflect on the learning objectives, the simulation experience, student feedback, and plans for future interprofessional simulations with nursing and medical students.
