Limited health literacy affects people of all ages, races, incomes, and education levels, beyond those with limited reading skills or for whom English is a second language. The purpose of this study was to assess the health literacy levels of undergraduate students enrolled at Truman State University. Testing health literacy can assess whether the students have adequate health knowledge to make informed decisions about their health. An 18 question survey was created using Newest Vital Sign, a food label, health and demographic questions. It will be administered to 365 students. The collected data will be analyzed using mini-tab/SPSS. The results will be calculated for overall health literacy rate, as well as differences between age groups, and male/female literacy. The results of the survey will be offered to assist campus student support services.
