This research study evaluated whether there are changes in nursing students’ attitudes about interdisciplinary health care after participating in an interdisciplinary clinical education experience, and how nursing and medical students compare in attitudes toward interdisciplinary teamwork. Medical students (N=18) and nursing students (N=17) participated in the survey at the beginning of the interdisciplinary education program. Nursing students’ mean Quality of Care/Process score increased comparing pre and post clinical experience, but the Physician Centrality score did not change significantly. In addition, nursing and medical students’ pre-test mean scores on the Quality of Care/Process scale did not differ significantly, but the medical students had a higher mean score on Physician Centrality than did the nursing students. Results from this study indicated interdisciplinary clinical education influenced the nursing students' attitudes towards interdisciplinary care, and medical students anticipated a more extensive role than other members in an interdisciplinary team.
