Personal Report of Intercultural Communication Apprehension of Chinese Students
China is becoming more attractive for international students and travelers, and Chinese students have taken the largest proportion among international students globally, while only limited research has been done on Chinese students’ intercultural communication apprehension. This study investigated the potential associations between Chinese students’ intercultural communication apprehension level and gender, age, education level, and study abroad experiences. The Personal Report of Intercultural Communication Apprehension (PRICA) was distributed online to a convenience sample of 210 Chinese students over 18 years old with English-language backgrounds, and data were collected on the participants’ PRICA level and demographics. The study revealed that gender indicated differences in the degree of the participants’ PRICA, given Chinese female students scoring higher than male students on average.
