Art making, as a unique form of expression, is both universal and intensely individualized; during my time abroad in Italy, I experienced many new things that influenced and affected my life. I discovered that a piece of artwork can speak to hundreds, and yet the artist's journey and artistic process is something only the artist can know. So I attempted to depict my influences from the world through my collection of intaglio etchings. I illustrate a rag doll, malleable and small, as she encounters the world around her. Using the traditional form of intaglio, I combined different etching techniques to further evoke the millieu. The body of work contains 6 prints, accompanied by literary quotations that accent the artwork, supporting not only my life experiences, but my educational background as well.
