Spirit Park: Where the Adventure Begins

Everyone has played on a playground at one time or another, but how many people have stopped to think about why playgrounds are important? Playgrounds serve as a primary educational tool for children of all ages and abilities. However, many children are limited to playing on the outside margins because of a playground’s design and a child’s disabilities, such as being unable to walk or see. My design for a new playground, Spirit Park, has features that integrate children of all abilities together in one location so they can learn to interact with one another and their environment. The focus of my presentation will be to discuss the importance of a park design that not only is accessible and beneficial to children of all abilities, but beneficial to Nature as well. Spirit Park is accessible and environmentally-friendly and uses as its base items made from recycled products.
