I propose a hybrid creative-critical investigation, informed by the theoretical readings of Elizabeth Grosz and Gaston Bachelard, as well as by the creative experimentation of Brenda Hillman and Allen Ginsberg, of space-time, in order to rethink (reconfigure) our relationships with (literary and figurative) space. I am particularly interested in probing the tensions between being, identity, and the presence of the self as reflected on/into the space(s) of a page--with process(es) of becoming a representation. Audre Lorde declared that "the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." This is why I have chosen to explore poetry as a methodology, and means, for opening up, and contributing to, literary space(s)--poetry is not the tools of the master, quite the contrary--poetry resists imposed literary structures and privileged forms of communicating, and as such, lends itself to lyrical interdisciplinarity and expressive movement.
