Middle School Reading Support: The Struggle for Student Success and the Middle School Model
Allison A. Sharp♦
Dr. Wendy Miner, Faculty Mentor

The middle school model is based on the concept of “success for all students.” In seeking success for all young people I am exploring the most effective model for reading support in the midst of various constraints often afforded in the middle school setting. My research addresses how support is provided to struggling readers outside of core classes. I will be examining the quality of time, selection of students, obstructions to support occuring, and the amount of planning that is afforded for each student. The research will include what programs and strategies were used to support student learning.
