Irene Ryan Package - Na Jimmy, Gaffney, and Shakespeare

The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for actors to showcase the range of their acting Ability. Actors can be self-nominated or nominated through the American College Theatre Festival for their work on a production. An Irene Ryan package consists of a monologue and a scene that totals four minutes. Parallel Lives by Kathy Na Jimmy and Mo Gaffney is a contemporary piece that highlights the struggles of women by putting it into a comedic light through these two beings creating the world. It is followed by a monologue from Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, in which Calpurnia has predicted a war coming to Rome. These two pieces require different acting styles. The two pieces contrast each other in tone and style, illustrating the ability to show emotional range.
