Teaching Crypto Assets for Accounting Through Gamification
Crypto assets are increasingly used by businesses and individuals in financial markets for creating, mining, investing, buying, and selling. Understanding how to record and use these assets has become more of a demand in the field of accounting as they gain legitimacy with investors. Previous research focuses on how changing classifications of crypto assets in recent years and accounting principles related to the characteristics of crypto assets ultimately connect traditional accounting methods with a need for new approaches. Investor knowledge will determine currently unknown characteristics and identify ever-changing traits of these assets, which means that effective teaching methods in crypto asset accounting are needed in undergraduate coursework. To address this need, the present study used gamification as a teaching approach for undergraduate students to learn crypto asset reporting, recording, and evaluating.
