Performing In The Irene Ryan Scholarship Competition: Using A Juxtaposing Monologue And Scene

Anna Million will be presenting the performance that she took to the 2025 Irene Ryan Scholarship Competition. This contest takes place anually at the Kennedy Center American College Festivals all around the country. Truman State falls under Region 5 for this event. The scholarship itself is name after Irene Ryan, an American actress who was born in 1902. Her scholarship foundation was set up one year before her death in 1972. Anna Million's performance for this year's competion includes a monologue from Hamlet by William Shaksephere as well as a scene from Five Women Wearing the Same Dress by Alan Ball, performed by her and her partner, Lauren Cavannah. This collection of works is a collaboration of play analysis, character work, and blocking displayed within a four minute time frame.
