Compute as a Commodity: The Emerging Market for Compute Power
Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming more and more prevalent in our world. Companies like Nvidia and Deepseek blowing up in valuation are prime examples of this. As the world increasingly relies on computing and AI there is more and more value to be had in computing power. Due to this, there is a push to make compute power a commodity, much like electricity and raw materials. Computational resources are increasingly being treated as a commodity, bought and sold in global markets. This shift is fueled by the growing demand for scalable, high-performance computing infrastructure, particularly for AI training, scientific simulations, financial modeling, and blockchain operations.
Ultimately, the shift toward compute as a commodity represents a transformative change in the digital economy, redefining how businesses and individuals access and leverage computational resources. This paper highlights both opportunities and challenges in the emerging market for compute power.
