Many factors can affect standing balance, including vision and surface condition. Question remains concerning the difference in standing balance between men and women soccer players. The purpose of this study was to compare the standing balance between men and women soccer players.  Men (n=31) and women (n=31) players were measured for standing balance during sighted and blindfold conditions while standing on a solid surface and a foam pad.  Measurement of pathway deviation from the center was determined by the BTracks system for each 20-second trial.  Men had a significantly greater deviation than women with eyes open but not when blindfolded.  When comparing the difference score between eyes open and eyes closed, men had a significantly great difference than women, suggesting greater instability when visibility is limited.  Due to the novelty of this form of testing, further research is advisable to establish the reliability of both sighted and blindfolded procedures.
