A previous National Football League equation (NFL-225) was developed to predict 1RM bench press in Division-I football players dependent on the number of repetitions completed with a load of 225 lbs.  However, the D-I equation has not been sufficiently evaluated to determine if it can accurately predict 1RM in D-II players.  Purpose: To assess the accuracy of the D-I NFL-225 equation to estimate 1RM Bench Press in D-II football players. Methods: Participants (n=40) performed repetitions to fatigue with a load of 225 lbs (102.06 kg). On a separate day, the participants performed a one-repetition maximum bench press.  Results: The predicted 1RM (140.3±17.51 kg) was significantly greater than the actual 1RM (134.8±17.6 k) despite a high correlation between the two 1RM values (r=0.93).  Conclusion: The D-I NFL-225 equation over-predicted 1RM bench press for D-II football players by 4.3%±5.0% and may not be suitable for estimating 1RM in D-II players.
