Watch, Ride, and Report: Guerilla Art or Government Propaganda
Elizabeth A. Schmerber♦
Prof. John Bohac , Faculty Mentor
This presentation discusses the poster Watch, Ride, and Report, which was spotted on the MARC rail system in Washington D. C. The poster was widely debated in forums in the summer of 2005. The debate questions the authenticity of the poster, as it so clearly references soviet propaganda that it is thought to be guerilla art. The evidence is a presentation of the evolution of entries in the forum discussions and the stylistic connections to Soviet propagandistic art. The presentation hopes to stimulate discussions on the intent of the artist and a general questioning of the direction of our own society.
