This is Me

Studies show that “play” is the natural motivation for human movement. For the dancer that sees past a “merely correct” approach to training, revision and exploration through play lead to a greater understanding of technical and artistic potential. Revision of a movement occurs thousands of times for a dancer, and as technical mastery draws nearer, there is less room for improvement. Thus, play and experimentation, with their infinite possibilities, become the dominant motivators and creators of movement. Orienting the focus of dance on play and experimentation enhance technical vocabulary and allow for greater artistic communication. The piece, "This is Me," brings light to these artistic possibilities and technical nuances.
