Impact of COVID-19 on Initial Clinical Preparedness

Nicole A. Taylor* and Tucker M. Murry
Dr. Ilene Elmlinger, Faculty Mentor

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many safety measures were put in place to protect clinical providers and clients. Many of these safety measures affected service delivery as well as delivery of instruction for students. This had a significant impact on the educational experience of many college students.  Many students were limited in access to clinical facilities that would enrich learning and increase comfort in their role of student clinician. This study was designed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on students’ preparedness for their initial clinical experience within the field of communication disorders.
