"Lycans of the Labyrinth" and Dissecting the Formula of H.P. Lovecraft
This creative essay opens with an imitative exercise designed to mimic the writing style of renowned author H.P. Lovecraft, famous for such short stories as "The Call of Cthulhu" and "The Shadow over Innsmouth." The essay's second half includes a dissection of what makes Lovecraft's writing tick and an analysis of his particular style so as to make generalizations about his work as a whole. This piece was written in the spring of 2020 for English 206 - Popular Literature: Horror with Dr. Bob Mielke; it reflects both the creative and analytical aspects of the course.
