An Examination Of Program Redesign In Missouri's Early Intervention Program, First Steps
Pam Thomas♦
Dr. Christopher Maglio, Faculty Mentor

First Steps is Missouri's Early Intervention Program for children birth to three years of age. In 2003, First Steps implemented a program redesign across the state of Missouri. The purpose of this project is to examine changes, if any, that occurred after program redesign. Specific components investigated include the number of children referred to the program, the age of children at the time of referral and the reason for eligibility determination. This project consists of a historical review of data reports published by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) between March 1, 2003 and June 1, 2005. At this time, results from this study are still pending.
