SaaS (Software as a Service) Stock Investing Method vs. Slow Moderate Growth in the Long Run

Michael R. Williams
Prof. Charles Boughton, Faculty Mentor

Thesis Statement: Does the aggressive high growth investing approach have a competitive edge over a slow to moderate growth (less risky) approach to investing in the long run?

To answer this question I plan to address aggressive high growth stock strategies in the aggregate with a focus on the SaaS stock niche approach. This will focus on the recent trend within the tech sector of investing in newly IPOd companies that focus on cloud services. I plan to compare this trend’s returns with returns of a portfolio composed of moderate growth stocks and an income stock portfolio to see which investing strategy over the last 20 years has prevailed as giving the best return to the investor. Additionally, I plan to compare the risk-to-return ratio of each strategy to determine if the highest return was worth it to the investor compared to the amount of risk that they took on.
