The purpose of this paper is to discuss the origins of life from a scientific point of view. This includes the physics that control the laws of our universe and all life in it, the environmental conditions that must have existed on pre-biotic earth, the chemical composition of the of the earliest life and how the molecules that composed it may have come about, as well as the evolution of life on earth that has occurred over the past few billion years including human evolution. This paper will also discuss the relationship between religion and the scientific origins of life, especially what the roles of each are including what aspects of the origin of life that each can explain that the other can not.
