Todor D. Dudevski
Dr. Andrew C. Mun, Faculty Mentor

Globalization in the financial world becomes more evident with every day that passes. The various financial opportunities arising in result made the development, evolution, and performance of small emerging markets of significant importance for the rational investor. Bulgaria, one of the emerging economies in Eastern Europe, is a typical example of a developing country that switched from communism to democracy in the last couple of decades. The purpose of this paper is to show the evolution and present condition of this emerging market. It also will reveal how its stock exchange performs, what is the major index in the market, and how this index correlates with the ones of the developed financial markets. The research found this correlation to be very small which would be of great importance for investors seeking diversification and greater return.
