Restrictions on Zero-Defect Solutions to the Mondrian Puzzle

Tyler R. Beauregard
Dr. Todd Palumbo, Faculty Mentor

In this presentation, we define the concept of the Mondrian Art Problem and our further interest in the existence of a zero-defect solution to the Mondrian Art Problem. We explore techniques, both geometric and number-theoretic, to place restrictions on these solutions, if they exist. Finally, we relate this problem to a broader problem of Blanche dissections and its connection to graph theory.
