Be Happy & Enjoy the Journey

MacKenzie L. Kellogg
Prof. Priya S. Kambli, Faculty Mentor

“Be Happy & Enjoy the Journey” is the last sentence my father wrote in his journal. Since his passing I have done my best to lean into this mentality and enjoy every aspect of my journey. This work comes from the realization that much like my father's, my journey was going undocumented. I inherited a variety of his things including sketchbooks, heirlooms and photos and while going through these artifacts I noticed a few things: I had no remnants of his 20’s and what I did have seemed to have no true intention. I also realized my soon-to-be husband and my twenties will be lost due to lack of documentation too. This body of work explores my issues with the loss of my father and the lack of documentation of his life, but it also helps to clarify my feelings surrounding his passing in the form of my creative process.
