With Eyes Bigger Than Our Stomachs: Growing Levels of National Debt and the Future of American Economic Growth

This research paper will serve as a literature review in an attempt to answer the question: What is the future of American economic growth as it relates to our national debt? The project will review many sources of research that have been conducted in this area. It will address first the history of American national debt and deficit spending growth and projections for future debt levels. Furthermore, it will examine several sources of research on the effects of national debt and economic growth and look at past examples of countries with higher debt to GDP levels than the United States currently has.
