The Little Match Girl: Synthesis of Live Music and Film

Alyssa Aubuchon*, Sara V. Miranda♦, Jordan A. Jenkins, and Adam M. Barker
Dr. Brian X. Kubin, Faculty Mentor

This project is intended to explore and present the process of synthesizing music and the visual arts in a live performance. Our research will culminate in live performance of the third movement Notturno from Alexander Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2 in D Major as aligned with the Disney short film The Little Match Girl (2006). In this presentation, we will briefly describe the process of rehearsing and performing live music with visual media components and we will compare our own process of rehearsing and performing with video. We will also perform the work live with the movie.
