The Art of Aligning Objective and Assessment

Danielle D. Wohlstadter
Dr. Wendy Miner, Faculty Mentor

This research study examined elementary teacher candidates for alignment in lesson planning as they progressed in the MAE program. Volunteers from the elementary 2017 608 cohort were asked to submit their written lesson plans from ED 393, ED 608, and ED 618. Three female teacher candidates volunteered. Their lesson plans were examined for patterns to determine if alignment existed between the standards and objectives for each lesson plan. Findings indicated that most participants gained tighter alignment in their standards and objectives throughout their duration in the MAE program.
