The Role of Motherhood in Pride and Prejudice: A Look at Mrs Bennet

This Paper shall delve into Jane Austen’s Novel and her negative portrayal of Motherhood in Mrs. Bennet. Rachel Duphy in her article In defense of Pride and Prejudice’s Mrs Bennet attempts to defend her stating that her disregard for decorum is, “not her weakness but in fact her greatest strength.” This Paper explores this concept, and will evaluate Mrs Bennet as the Matron of her family.
