Hamlet and Kanye West: A Comparison

Though centuries apart, the fictional character of Hamlet and the real life twenty-first century singer, Kanye West invite a comparison. Is Hamlet's madness feigned? Is Kanye West merely playing a persona? This essay will examine the question of "appearance versus reality" in the portrayal of Hamlet and Kanye West to explore the ways in which the answer may lie somewhere in-between the two extremes.
