Critical Thinking in Studio Art
Daniel T. Riekena♦* and Alex C. Eickhoff
Prof. John Bohac , Faculty Mentor
In a collaborative effort, Alex Eickhoff and I used the critical-thinking strategy of making a familiar act seem strange. We are both portrait painters, but our portraits differ in many ways, such as; subject matter, media, style, and inspiration. For this project, Alex and I analyzed, interpreted, and synthesized art that reflected each others style. By performing the act of creating artwork rooted in the identity of another artist, we were able to gain knowledge of painting as well as widen our own styles of painting.
