Sleep by Eric Whitacre -- A New Arrangement for Brass Choir
Maxwell D. Meigel♦
Dr. Warren Gooch and Dr. Greg Jones, Faculty Mentors

Sleep was originally written by Whitacre for four-part chorus. The presenter desired a playable, engaging arrangement for instrumentalists, which led to a new adaptation of the piece for brass choir. The piece underwent a series of revisions, each attempting to bring it closer to the vocal quality of the original setting. The presentation will include a live performance of the work and a discussion of the techniques used to adapt vocal music to brass instruments.
