The Effects of Different Tempo Music on Elementary Students' Performance in Physical Education Class
Taylor Birsa♦
Dr. Carla Smith, Faculty Mentor

The purpose of this study was to determine what tempo of music affects elementary students performance in physical education class. Three third grade classes were considered participants in this study, however, only three students were randomly selected from each class based on their usual work ethic in physical education. Over a course of three weeks fast tempo music, slow tempo music, and no music was played in each class. Students behavior and actions were recorded by using the Academic Learning Time-Physical Education form. Activity levels were then compared to see which tempo of music had the biggest impact on each participants activity in physical education class.
