Shoeman Water Shoe Drive

Dr. Chad Montgomery, Faculty Mentor

About 1.1 billion people globally do not have access to improved water supply sources. Access to clean water involves not only health issues, but economic and educational issues as well. We plan to organize a shoe drive on campus for the organization Shoeman Water. This organization sells shoes and uses the money to provide well drilling rigs, water purification systems, and health and hygiene training in underdeveloped communities around the world. Through our efforts we hope to not only collect shoes for the organization, but to also raise awareness on Truman State University's campus about the need for clean water supplies around the world. We will be utilizing publicity tables within the student union building. With the information aids provided by Shoeman Water, we will explain the concept of the project and give students a location for shoe collection.
