Creation of a Video Game Genome: A Recommendation System Model
James T. Fisher
Dr. Jon A. Beck, Faculty Mentor

Since the launch of Pandora's music genome project, recommender systems have become highly coveted by manufacturers of consumer products. Pandora, a personalized radio system, characterizes all songs in its database with 150-400 different attributes, depending on the genre of each song. The system then uses a match algorithm to compare songs chosen by a listener to similar songs in its database. The current study will use this same process to create a video game genome project. It is anticipated that a recommendation system for a highly lucrative market such as video games could improve the relationship between businesses and consumers.
