Dr. Huping Ling, Faculty Mentor

Educational environments, kindergarten through post- secondary, are continually changing. It is advantageous to examine different changes among these environments. A major change is the population dynamic of school systems. Along with an examination of Asian American families, one will see the motivating factors of Asian American families coming to the United States. A possible motivating factor is attaining education. The scope of the research will focus on the importance and the role of education in Asian American families. Another area of focus will be on the changing of educational dynamics of a school system. This will include school population changes, resources dedicated to these incoming students, and the potential impact on these school systems. The research gathered will come from multiple sources. Sources will include oral history interviews, school district data and statistics, census data, and research on various resources implemented by school districts to help Asian American students.
