Searching for Pulsating Stars in Eclipsing Binary Star Systems

We looked for unstudied delta-scuti pulsating stars in eclipsing binary star systems from Soydugan's catalog. For the summer of 2011, we were able to study six star systems from this catalog, namely IO Uma, MX Her, FN Her, V602 Aql, RX Dra and DF Peg. None of them had a delta-scuti component. In addition, we analyzed data from the Kepler database which has two kinds of datasets SLC (data taken every minute) and LLC (data taken every thirty minutes). For the five systems from the SLC data, we found delta-scuti pulsations in two of them. And out of thirty six systems from the LLC data, eight seemed to show some pulsation but this requires further study. Thus we were able to rule out some of the candidates on Soydugans list through observations at the Truman observatory, and found two new star systems with delta-scuti pulsations from the Kepler database.
