A New Day on Midnight's Children: Postcolonial Influences from Great Britain to India
Amelia M. Adams
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor

Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children connects the personal journey of Saleem Sinai and his family with India's struggle against Britain's cultural influence. The children of the novel represent the potential of India to break from the lingering influence of Britain. In this paper, I will use a post-colonial approach to verify the extent of this independence and to question the ability of any nation to ultimately shake off colonial influence.
