drawing secrets: A Duet for Clarinet and Electronics
Theodore S. Moore♦
Dr. Charles Gran, Faculty Mentor

drawing secrets is a musical composition that incorporates the programming software Pure Data to manipulate live acoustic music. An electronicist manipulates and records sounds from a live clarinetist in real time. The presenter wrote the music and programmed the electronic manipulation and interface in Fall 2010. By combining the clarinets timbre and idiomatic gestures with electronically manipulated sound, a duet texture predominates. The music explores the idea of pulse and is largely based on the Fibonacci series. A performance of the composition will be included in the presentation.
