Theoretical Modeling of Downconversion in a Biaxial Crystal
Gaurab Rimal
Dr. Michael Goggin, Faculty Mentor

Bismuth Borate (BIBO), a biaxial crystal has been found to have excellent properties (e.g. high effective nonlinearity and non-hygroscopic nature) to carry out experiments in nonlinear optics. The biaxial nature of the crystal significantly increases the complexity of photonic propagation and interaction within the crystal. The details of propagation of light in BIBO for degenerate type-I phasematching including the effect of dispersion of the axes is modeled.
