Truman State University Students' Perceptions of Organ Donation
Maddie M. Coffman* and Alexandria N. Ramirez
Dr. Janice Clark Young, Faculty Mentor

Although previous studies indicate that college students are generally in support of organ donation, only a small percentage of these students have formally declared themselves organ donors by signing a donor card. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate if the same discrepancy existed at Truman State University and to determine Truman students perceptions of organ donation. A convenience sample completed a survey with questions designed to measure the extent of knowledge and opinions Truman students have already formed about organ donation. Based on these results, future programs may be created in order to promote organ donation awareness and encourage formal donor registration at Truman State University.
