Motivation Correlates with Mathematics Anxiety in Students at a Community College

Student motivation was investigated as a factor influencing mathematics anxiety and performance. Data from students at a community college using surveys and journals revealed positive correlations between intrinsic motivation and performance and between external motivation and anxiety. This supports previous research recommending that intrinsic motivation should be nurtured by teachers.
