The Effect of Ligand Cavity Size on the Structure of Lead(II) Coordination Complexes
Michael J. Brelsford* and Laura M. Tvedte
Dr. James McCormick, Faculty Mentor

Lead poisoning is one of the most widespread environmental health issues today, and so a more thorough understanding of Lead(II) is required. This research describes progress towards understanding how ligand cavity size, modified by synthesizing derivatives of the tris-(2-pyridylmethyl) amine ligand and characterized using NMR spectroscopy, effects the structure of Lead(II) complexes in the solid state which can be used to model Lead(II)'s behavior in vivo.
