Qualitative Analysis of the Performance Management System in the Workplace
Baillie R. Cloyd
Dr. Michael Blum, Faculty Mentor

The performance management system has the potential to turn an organizations strategy into results. The system is important because if used effectively, it will align the goals of the individual employees with the goals of the organization. This project will help organizations gain a better understanding of the variations within employers' performance management systems and identify how each system goes beyond the performance appraisal document. We have identified how these systems vary amongst regional employers through the categorization of key characteristics of performance management. These characteristics include the creation and evaluation of each system, the various types of performance appraisal documents, the execution of the performance appraisal process, feedback, and the use of results. An effective performance management system is critical for employee performance planning, evaluation, feedback, and development. If used effectively, the performance management system can ultimately lead to company growth and increased productivity.
